Natural History Museum. Listening to Ed speak about the data collection in the garden was eye opening; I had no idea how much data was being collected. At the end of the trip to the museum we received the coursework brief. From the brief I create several questions in directly alignment to the brief: 

How do we connect all 3 of the areas (museum, garden, community)? 
How can we encourage people to engage with the information? 
What questions can the sensors in the garden answer? 
How can we use this information for good? 
Is there a specific type of information we should focus on and how might that relate to the community at hand? 
How does all of this information work together? 
What information gaps have already been answered? 
What is the main goal? 
How can we make something physical, something digital in a helpful, fun, and interactive way?  
How can we ensure users will understand how to use this technology specifically for its intended purpose? 


After leaving the museum my group conducted a PESTLE analysis to familiarise ourselves with the Political, Economic, Sociological, Technological, Legal, and Environmental Influence of the Natural History Museum and Gardens (CIPD, 2021). Completing this exercise allowed us to gather further insights about the museum and gardens to understand how the above questions might be answered.

Rather than starting with a specific design goal and aim, this stage of the project focuses on developing a mindset for creative practice. Through engaging with the course materials shared this week, I have begun to think more critically about what creativity in design means to me and how I want to approach creativity as a designer throughout this process. 
MY WHY: 
One of my main motivations for taking this module is to challenge how I see myself in a creative aspect. I often consider myself more analytical than creative and this course acts as a perfect opportunity for me to explore and challenge that perception of myself. 
I feel like I am currently living in a significant developmental moment for both my academic and personal life. Engaging in processes, particularly those that involve experimentation and exploration is something I want to carry forward with me in both my career and daily life. I see this project not only as a way to respond to a design brief, but also as a way to push myself beyond familiar ways of working and to become more confident in creative-decision making. 
MY WHAT: 
At this early stage, I do not have an exact idea about what my group will create, but I think that is kind of the whole point. We are supposed to be going into this process with an exploratory mindset. I am eager to familiarize myself with the museum, the garden, and the community.  At this current stage, my goal is to remain open, curious and responsive.
MY HOW: 
I aim to approach this project in a structured yet open way. I look forward to collaborating with my group members to see how our perspectives, experiences, and creative approaches will intersect. I expect that at times we may have differing opinions on certain things, but I view this as a strength rather than a challenge because it will allow me to grow. Being able to work with my other group members will push me to think and create in ways that I might otherwise have been uncomfortable doing.
